On the morning of March 12, 2020, the regulation on cancellation of visa exemption policy for European countries officially came into effect. Accordingly, the visa waiver program for 8 European countries has been officially canceled. Is Belarus on this list? Can Belarus citizens enter Vietnam during this time? Is it necessary to apply for a visa when a Belarusian citizen enters Vietnam?
Vietnam’s unilateral visa exemption policy is applied to 13 countries, including UK, France, Germany, Spain, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Russia and Belarus. Previously, citizens of these 13 countries could enter Vietnam without a visa if the stay was less than 15 days. However, due to the complicated situation of the nCovid-19 epidemic, the Vietnamese government tightened the visa exemption policy:
– At the end of February, the visa exemption policy for Korea was canceled. Korean nationals are prohibited from entering Vietnam.
– In early March, citizens of Italy and Japan were banned from applying for visas to Vietnam
– On 12/3, visa exemption policy for 8 countries from Europe was officially canceled, including UK, France, Germany, Spain, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland. Passport holders from these 8 countries cannot apply for a visa to enter Vietnam. For those who already had a visa can still enter.
Currently, among 13 countries exempted from visa for 15 days, Russia and Belarus are the only two countries that can still enter Vietnam without a visa. However, this policy may be canceled at any time, based on disease situation. Once the visa exemption policy is canceled, citizens of that country will also find it very difficult to apply for a visa to come to Vietnam. Therefore, if you are preparing to come to Vietnam, you should apply for a Vietnam visa ASAP so that you can best prepare for your trip with unexpected changes during this time.
Applying for a Vietnam visa for Belarus citizens is now very simple. It only takes about 3 minutes to fill in the online visa application form, then wait 2 working days to receive results via email. The online Vietnam visa form can be found here https://www.vietnam-evisa.com/apply/
