As we know, Vietnam Government has temporarily stopped to grant Vietnam visa for Hong Kong and Macao passport holders from the end of January 2019. Because of the bad effect of Wuhan corona virus situation, Hong Kong and Macao passport holders are more difficult to apply Vietnam visa. But when the situation is well controlled, the visa policy for Hong Kong and Macao has been changed. Vietnam visa on arrival is available for Hong Kong and Macao people, which help them to get visa at Vietnam airports. And now, electronic visa is also re-opened for Hong Kong and Macao passport holders.

Many Hong Kong and Macao applicants asked us: “Whether Hong Kong and Macao passport holders can apply Vietnam electronic visa or not?” Or “How to get Vietnam visa for Hong Kong and Macao citizens?” Or “Are Hong Kong and Macao passport holders allowed to apply Vietnam visa and travel to this country?”. Today (February 17^th, 2020), we strongly confirm that Hong Kong and Macao passport holders can apply Vietnam visa online, for both visa on arrival and electronic visa.

The procedure for getting Vietnam visa for Hong Kong and Macao passport holders are exactly the same as before. The procedure is easy and the processing time is fast.

For visa on arrival, the applicants need to apply an approval letter online. This letter takes about two working days to process. And then, the applicants use this letter to get visa when arriving at Vietnamese airports.

For electronic visa, the applicants only need to apply online, no need to stop at “visa on arrival counter” to get visa when arriving at the airport. The application for Vietnam electronic visa is processed online, the applicants must submit passport copy and digital photo when filling the visa application form. After two working days processing, Vietnam electronic visa will be sent to applicants’ email. They just need to print it out and show it when entering the Immigration control gate.

Please note that, both visa on arrival and electronic visa are accepted to enter Vietnam, but the applicants must not depart from any places in China mainland. The flights from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan are also accepted. Visa application must be completed at least 3 days before the departure date. If not, the applicants have to pay extra fee to process it urgently.
